UN proposes Palmer for head of Gaza boat inquiry - report

Wellington, June 6 NZPA - The United Nations has proposed to Israel that former New Zealand Prime Minster Geoffrey Palmer lead an international commission of inquiry into the raid on the Gaza-bound aid flotilla a week ago.
Committee members would include representatives from the United States, Turkey and Israel, the Israeli newspaper Haaretz reported today.
Senior officials at the Israeli Foreign Ministry told the newspaper Israel should consider the idea favourably.
