Maori Party co-leader Tariana Turia is well ahead of her Labour Party challenger in the Te Tai Hauauru electorate, an opinion poll released today shows.

Mrs Turia, who holds the seat, was on 77.7 percent support and Labour's Errol Mason was on 15.1 percent.

Previous polls in two other electorates held by the Maori Party have also shown the sitting MPs well ahead of their opponents.

Today's Marae-DigiPoll also confirmed what the previous surveys have shown -- Maori voters still prefer Labour over National.

When 400 voters were asked which party they were going to give their party vote to, 42.5 percent said Labour and only 7.7 percent said National.

The Maori Party has said it will consult its supporters before deciding after the election which of the main parties it will support -- if it decides to support either of them.

Today's poll had a margin of error of plus or minus 4.9 percent.
