Wellington, April 28 NZPA - New Zealand and Italy agreed to strengthen economic relations today.

Trade Minister Tim Groser met his Italian counterpart Adolfo Urso in Wellington today and said it was even more important during the recession to expand industrial, economic and trade cooperation.

The two countries will hold regular consultations to identify new opportunities for investment and trade particularly in the marine, textiles, infrastructure, renewable energies, agro-food, information and communications technology and financial services industries.

"We are committed to opening markets further, removing obstacles to trade and combating any form of protectionism," Mr Groser said.
