Wellington, June 18 NZPA - New Plymouth lawyer Tim Brewer will now sit on the other side of the bench -- as a High Court judge.
Attorney-General Christopher Finlayson announced the appointment today. The new judge would sit in Auckland from July 1.
Mr Brewer has been the Crown Solicitor for New Plymouth since 1988, and was a Law Commissioner from 1997 to 2001.
He served in the Territorial Force of the New Zealand Army, retiring with the rank of brigadier last year when he was appointed a judge of the Court Martial of New Zealand.
