Wellington, April 30 NZPA - The Government isn't happy about the $8.5 million it will cost to move the Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) from Petone to downtown Wellington, but it doesn't seem to be able to do anything about it.

CAA is scheduled to shift at the end of next year to a new, multi-storied building in the capital.

Transport Minister Steven Joyce said today he was "not at all impressed" with the situation but the decision was made last year, before the election, and supported by the then-Transport minister Annette King.

"Unfortunately, commitments were made with the support of the previous government that are unable to be changed," he said.

"The CAA has assured me that everything possible will be done to contain costs going forward from here."
