Wellington, June 20 NZPA - Defence Minister Wayne Mapp has met his British counterpart, Liam Fox, and says the defence relationship between the two countries is in good health.
Dr Mapp, who met Dr Fox in London, said having the meeting so early with the new British government showed the strength of the relationship.
The two countries shared "many interests", he said.
Dr Mapp said they discussed Afghanistan and New Zealand's defence review, and Dr Fox indicated Britain wanted to strengthen its engagement in the Asia-Pacific.
"We have got in early and laid the foundations of an even stronger and more productive defence relationship."
