Wellington, March 25 NZPA - The Royal Commission on Auckland Governance has delivered its 700-page report to the Government.
It was set up by the previous government and has been considering local authority arrangements for the city.
Prime Minister John Key said on Monday the report would be confidential for a few days while an official response was considered, and then it would be released.
There has been speculation it will recommend a "super council" for the wider region, setting up a contest for Lord Mayor of Auckland.
Peter Salmon QC was the chairman of the commission and its members were Dame Margaret Bazley and David Shand.
