Wellington, March 18 NZPA - Turners Auctions Ltd will hold one of its biggest truck auctions next week when the assets of Rapid Roadfreighters, which went into receivership in December, go under the hammer.

The trucking company with a heritage of more than a century in New Zealand once had more than 200 vehicles throughout New Zealand, but about 60 will be auctioned next Wednesday in Auckland.

The fleet included popular and reliable models such as Volvo, Mack, Daihatsu, Mitsubishi and Nissan.

"At one end of the scale is a 2000 Kenworth K104 6x4 tractor unit, which is expected to sell for around $55,000, and at the other, a 1981 Domett two-axle trailer worth around $1000," said Jason Tredgett of Turners Auctions.

The full auction catalogue is made up primarily of Rapid Roadfreighters assets, however it also includes about a dozen other lots, including a 2005 Kenworth T401 6x4 tractor unit that is expected to sell for $75,000.
