Wellington, July 23 NZPA - Technology company Rakon expects to ship a record 6.5 million units from its Auckland factory this month.
"This is an exciting milestone for our New Zealand plant as we can see the results of five years of investment in what is still a very tough market," chief executive Brent Robinson said.
The company supplies crystal oscillators to the GPS, telecommunications network and aerospace markets.
Earlier this week it said it is spending 400,000 euros ($NZ717,400) on a French-based competitor to help accelerate its growth in high performance products.
The Temex acquisition accelerated Rakon's planned expansion in France into higher margin, very high performance applications, Mr Robinson said.
