Wellington, July 7 NZPA - Drinks maker Frucor is seeking Commerce Commission approval to buy Hawke's Bay fruit juice company Simply Squeezed.

Frucor, owned by Japanese company Suntory, owns brands including V, Arano, Fresh Up, Just Juice, McCoy and Citrus Tree.

Simply Squeezed, owned by Australian private equity firm Crescent Food Group, makes Simply Squeezed, Supreme Country, Bay Harvest and Allganics drinks.

The commission will determine whether the purchase would substantially lessen competition in the market.
