Dunedin Venues and John Deere have formalised a commercial partnership today that will enable the Forsyth Barr Stadium pitch to be maintained to an international standard and provide usage beyond expectation.
Under the agreement, Drummond and Etheridge (Golf and Turf) will provide a comprehensive range of John Deere turf management equipment to Dunedin Venues. The portfolio of products includes walk behind greens mowers, compact utility tractors, Gator Utility Vehicles, sprayers and top dressers and will enable the Dunedin Venues turf team to manage and maintain the pitch to allow for maximum usage and a consistently high turf quality.
David Davies, CEO, Dunedin Venues, commented "The decision process for major assets and services is a comprehensive process. We believe it is really important to get the very best deal. John Deere has presented both the best financial and technical proposal.
"With the experience and knowledge within the Dunedin Venues turf team, combined with the John Deere products and equipment, the Stadium pitch will deliver outstanding events for the whole community."
Sir John Hansen, Chairman of the Dunedin Venues Board, believes this represents a significant opportunity for the Stadium.
"This partnership with one of the world's leading turf equipment providers is a huge endorsement for the Stadium. Dunedin Venues is now in a unique position, with not only superb equipment, but also support and access to the John Deere network of expertise."
"This is a win/win alliance and provides great value to the ratepayers of Otago and Southland."
