Wellington, May 30 NZPA - Christchurch-based bus passenger information company Connexionz has signed a $3.6 million contract in the Californian city Santa Clarita.

The contract to supply the Real Time Passenger Information system included three years of maintenance.

The system would be the first on the United States' west coast, with six operating on the east coast.

Connexionz won the contract with backing from the Treasury's NZ Export Credit Office, which guaranteed a performance bond.

Shares in Connexionz, whose real time public transport passenger information systems operate in the US, United Kingdom, Australia and New Zealand, last traded on May 19 at a record low 8c.
