The Frugal Female’s Guide to Pampering

Just because you’ve decided to live a more frugal life, doesn’t mean you have to miss out on life’s little pleasures.  You just need to look outside the salon to find them.

There are generally three kinds of female:  1) Those who just can’t do without their monthly trip to the salon or day spa (and are paying a pretty penny for the privilege); 2) Those who have NEVER set foot inside a salon a) because they can’t afford it, and/or b) they always put themselves last; and 3) that canny female who has turned to her friends for some d.i.y. pampering!

The first two gals, really need to meet No. 3 – and soon.

Manicures, pedicures – or even just painting each others nails doesn’t take that much skill.

Waxing, well, you may want to make sure they have a little more experience.  But if you’ve been waxing your own legs for sometime, then waxing someone else should be quite easy.

Of course, these are all things that you can do for yourself, but it’s so much more enjoyable to have someone else do it for you.  You could take turns at being the pamperer and the pamperee, her turn one day, yours the next.

A trip to the day spa wouldn’t be complete without a relaxation massage.  You don’t need a degree to rub someone’s back and shoulders – you can use baby oil or even vegetable oil with a few drops of your favourite essential oil.

But if you want to make sure you’re doing it “properly” - why not check out your local Community Education Centre for classes on massage?   Many couples choose to take these classes together so they can do it for each other.   (This may also be a great way to make a second income.)

Even if you don’t wish to take a class on massage, many students taking a massage course are always looking for “clients” to practice on. So you and your gal pals could always volunteer your services as willing victims!

Every girl deserves to be pampered.  So, if you’ve got a friend who is ALWAYS putting herself last, why not set aside a day and give her a treat!
